Induced labour

Alhamdulillah, my baby was savely born on 26th January 2010. She is so beautiful and today she is 7 days old.

Here, I would like to share about her birth story. The story is long but I'll make it short, cut here and there so that people will not get bored.

12.25pm: I'm done with the induced procedure. The gynae insert a prostin gel inside my vagina. The experience more or less like this . However, I'm so clueless about the after effect. Actually, its less painful when you lay down compare to walk.

6.30pm: My contractions were still low according to CTG. A nurse reported to my gynae through a phone call and she expected maybe it's gonna be tonite or tomorrow.

7:45pm: The contractions suddenly so intense. It's happen every 1,2 or 3 minutes gap.

9pm: I took a bath before performing Isyak. Konon nak warm bath to soothe my contraction tp air tak warm pun. Then I asked the nurse to put on CTG and after that she checked my opening. At the same time, Nazhan and my husband drove home to take my mom and her maid to accompany Nazhan later when I in labour room. Surprisingly, the opening was just 2-3 cm. She kept asking whether i wanted a pain relief like epidural or an injection at my butt- the injection will make me sleepy.

Aaahh, why did she asked. When everyone arrived and Nazhan already felt asleep, I told them I wanted an epidural and need to go to the labour room. I walked to the labour room slowly with my husband and my mom.

10.30-11.10pm: Arrived at labour room. The contractions were so intensed. I was struggling but managed to calm down while waiting for the procedures to complete while my husband was waiting outside, well thats what i thought.

11.30pm: After 20 minutes, my legs started to feel numb but I could still feel the contractions, a little bit mild than before. The anesthetic specialist told that's ok and then he left. I asked the midwife to turn the CTG so that i could monitor it as well. I told her when i had my first baby, I had a full opening without nobody realized. She ignored my request and said that CTG cannot tell how big is your progress. Then she left and I asked her to get my hp from my husband as he actually not waiting outside but took care of Nazhan who suddenly awoke and cried.

There was another nurse or junior midwife who stayed with me. Just few minutes after, I started to feel a stronger contraction. When I asked her to get the anesthetic specialist, she said he already left. When I kept demanding, she called someone but they gave the same answer.

I hold her hand tight. I asked her to get my husband. She called someone and conveyed my need. Then I feel 'seram sejuk' and told her to checked my temperature as I thought I might had a fever and it could dangered my baby.

11.40pm: The midwife who left before came back. She said my husband took my son for a ride to get him sleep. She then checked my opening and guess what it happen again. I'm all set as my opening was full. I asked her to call my gynae immediately and somehow I started to cry.

11.45pm: My husband arrived and clueless why I'm crying. My son still outside the labour room alone. I told him I'm ready for labour and send Nazhan away quick. They also gave me 'gas' and that's help a lot. I started to calm down slowly. I told the midwife that's my water still not brake yet and as usual she told me not to border about all that.

11.55-11.58pm:
My gynae arrived. I could feel the baby slowly came down. At this moment, I didn't feel any pain at all but I could feel the baby pushing herself slowly and smoothly and people around me could see her head. When Doc told me to push harder, I told her I did not push yet. So she started counting and I started pushing. However I'm not pushing hard enough and she told me to cough few times. Only then the baby succesfully came out at 11.58pm. Fuuhhh..

I'm so thankful and relief for the save delivery until I forgot to ask whether the baby is a boy or a girl. Only after a while, when the doc asked "Scan dulu apa ya?". My husband answered " x nampak". Then only I asked "Baby boy ka girl?" and the answered was "Girl". So again and again I kept saying Alhamdulillah for the greatest gift, God had sent to me.

Membrane sweep

I'm done with membrane sweep which I personally request for it. I hope it help to stimulate the labour. Oh, I really want a natural labour. It is my fault I guess. I'm a bit late in studying how to induce a natural labour.

That's a few suggestions on how to do it but it should help me a lot if I did it consistently earlier. However, I just tried them after i nearly passed my due date.

I want to ask more to the doctor on how they will perform induced labour at the hospital. There are few methods whether by using membrane sweep, prostaglandin(tru vagina) enema(tru butt), syntocinon(drip) and water breaks. A single , combination methods or maybe end up by c-sec if still cannot induce a labour are all I knew.

However, when I arrived at the hospital at 10.30am, it's already end of visiting hours. Luckily the doctor was still there and willing to see me. I only asked whether they perform membrane sweep as one of the procedures for induced labour, and she said yes. Then she offered me to do it straight away.

Well, the swept was tough but it's over now. The doctor seem not confident with it. She said only few had progress after did it. In my case, there is no opening yet and the door is still tightly shut up. Why baby? Why?

About other questions, I forgot to ask as I'm still in great pain when I finished the swept. Huhu:(:(

1 day overdue

Today is my 1st day overdue. Oh, i'm so scared. After done some research, i'm not into induced labour after all. Maybe if i really need it, i also asked for epidural which actually i want to skip this time.

My niece born after 40 weeks and 4 days, but not induced. Why i need induced labour within the same period? Am my body really not capable for natural labour beyond that given period? This is my 2nd one. Perhaps although the baby quite big, i can still handle it right.

Today, i'm going for another checkup without earlier appointment. I just want to check on my baby, since i'm worried about her condition since yesterday i felt down in the toilet but not really hard one, but still terhempas punggung in slow motion. After that, i had pain at my bottom, need to put some oilment every time.

Oh, i need to stop now since i want to go out for that checkup.

Nazhan is sleeping

Alhamdulillah, nazhan tidur siang arini. Barulah teratur sikit aku tgk ruang tamu ni. Kalau tak ada ja toys dia di mana2. Pantang org kemas, mesti kena punggah. Kejap nk main tu, kejap nk main ni. Selalunya main campak2 ja. Rimas perut kot tgk barang dia teratur.

Semalam selepas 12 jam berjaga, dia tiduq pkl 7 mlm. However pkl 2am dah bangun. Selalunya aku mmg tak buat susu, bg air masak ja. But since dia tidur awal, dinner pun tak, aku p la bancuh susu. Lagi satu sebab kami dah tidur kat hall tingkat bawah, dkt la ngan dapur. Lepas minum, suap roti sikit ja sampai la dia taknak. Aku bukak tv and set sleep timer pkl 4am.

Aku terjaga pkl 4, tgk belum tidur lagi. Dok cari mainan plk dlm gelap. Aku bukak blk tv, dia pun mai layan balik. Pkl 5, aku terjaga lagi, tgk dia dah tidur atas abahnya.

Tup2 pukul 6, dah jaga balik. Dasat la Nazhan ni. Then nak berkepit ja ngan abah dia. Lepas solat subuh, terus la kami breakfast. Sementara aku buat nasi goreng, diorang makan roti cicah teh sambil layan cartoon.

Itu sebab la dia boleh tidur siang arini. Nazhan..nazhan..

40 weeks and still hanging there

Today, we went for another checkup. Baby is great. Alhamdulillah. My placenta however already have white spots. Dunno what it means, but my guess is, it's a sign of maturity.

Meanwhile, the amniotic fluid maintain in good level. Baby weight is estimated at 3-3.1kg. My gynae advised me to get induce if there is no symptom of delivery after 3-4 days of the due date which is 22nd. It's because the baby will get bigger while I'm just a little mom. Perhaps it can cause a complication during delivery.

Currently my health is in tip top as my mom already here with her maid. So I can get enough rest while all the house choas is taken care. Thanks a lot.

Abang Nazhan is in process to get along with tuk. He need to stay at home when i'm in the labour room later or maybe they will accompany him at hospital room. Nowadays he don't want to take a day nap. Yesterday, he stayed awake for 12 hours straight, 9am-9pm. Today, wakeup even earlier at 7.15am and still awake till now. Standby not to be leave out, maybe. Hehe..
